Kasha Gets Adopted!

Kasha_and_laura

Our fabulous longtime volunteer, Laura B. of Helena, came out on Friday to adopt three-legged Kasha.  Now, Laura is not exactly new to adopting from the ranch -- she's adopted four animals already from us over the years.  That includes the little scamp she's holding in her arms in this photo, Rudy.  He was only here for a couple of months before Laura fell in love with him and took him home, so he never even got his own page on our Web site.  He's a wobbler who came to us from a rescue group in Salt Lake City.

A number of people had expressed interest to us over the past few months about adopting Kasha, although no one ever stood up and said, "I'm ready!"  But Laura had never said anything, and instead was quietly eyeing this beautiful Shepherd and thinking about making her part of the family.  So when she asked me last week about adopting Kasha, at first I was surprised and then -- a nanosecond later -- delighted at the idea.  We couldn't think of a better home for Kasha than the one Laura would provide.

I talked with Laura a few times over the weekend and she reports that Kasha is doing great.  "Kasha is such a sweet girl!," she said.  Rudy is learning to adjust to having another dog in the family -- he has a case of something called SDNS ("Small Dog/Napoleon Syndrome") -- but with a little work, he's coming around.

Thanks to Laura for giving this special girl such a wonderful home!

As I read Kasha's story, it broke my heart to learn how she lost one of her legs and yet, like the other brave animals at the sanctuary, all they want to do is live life ! Something us humans need to take a lesson from. I'm happy for you dear Kasha and thank you to Laura for her human kindness ! Many happy moments lies ahead - enjoy life !

It doesn't surprise me Kasha had a lot of adoption interests. I'm so happy for Laura, Kasha and even Rudy (he'll warm up, I'm sure)!
Good luck to this special and beautiful family!

Congrats, little Kasha. You have found another best home.

Welcome to the family Kasha!!!

Travis will have to find a new buddy!!

Bravo, Laura, for adopting these two special pooches!

What a happy ending for Kasha and Laura! Congratulations to all who were involved in this girl's rescue!

Congrats Kasha on your new forever home with Laura! Kasha looks so happy in that photo! Rudy is so dark, I almost missed him in the photo! Hopefully, he'll soon adjust to having Kasha join him & it will be a happy family! Terrific Laura, I wish you joy with you new family!

SDNS--ha! I think that's what our small dog has this week, after we adopted a slightly larger dog from a local rescue group.

My warmest congratulations to Laura & Kasha!!! Reading about this adoption is a great way to start the week.

Kasha...welcome to your forever home with Laura B! Wonderful...wonderful news!

Kasha...you beautiful girl; I am sooo happy for you!

Does Travis miss her? You mentioned they were playmates and "hung out".

This is great! Shepherds are such great dogs. I am a frequent reader of the blog and plan on visiting the ranch this coming summer. I have many friends who are animal lovers and brought up a visit. I think I'll have to rent a bus for the trip. Don't worry. We'll bring treats, toys and our work clothes!

That's the best news! Congratulations Laura B., Kasha & Rudy! Open hearts are rewarded. Congratulations Steve and Alayne, too! Wonderful, a Thanksgiving treasure.
